Solving the One Thing That Makes Jewelry So Frustrating

Claspe was created to solve a problem nearly every woman has experienced: struggling to put on her own jewelry. With a patent-pending clasp that’s easy to grip, hook, and fasten solo, Claspe eliminates the need for help, frustration, or broken nails. The result? Necklaces and bracelets you can actually put on yourself—yes, even with a fresh manicure.

A Founder’s Struggle, A Wedding-Day Nail Break, and a Big Idea

Founder Alicia Valko never set out to launch a jewelry brand. But just before her wedding, while getting ready for work, she broke a nail trying to fasten a necklace—alone, and already running late.

It stung more than it should’ve: Alicia had spent months growing out her nails for her big day after years of nail-biting. The moment was frustrating, symbolic—and ultimately, eye-opening.

“I started asking other women, and nearly all of them had a story—breaking nails, giving up, or just not wearing jewelry unless someone else was around to help,” Valko says.

She searched everywhere for a better solution—but it didn’t exist. Instead, she found forums and product reviews filled with the same frustration: lobster clasps that were nearly impossible to use, and magnetic ones that fell off and led to lost investment pieces. Even worse? Women were sharing “hacks”—like using tape, bobby pins, or paper clips—just to get their jewelry on by themselves.

“It made me angry,” she says. “This industry claims to serve women, but no one had fixed one of the most basic functional problems.”

As a brand strategist by day and a bride-to-be by night, Alicia became obsessed with solving it. She sketched concepts at her kitchen counter, 3D designed multiple prototypes, and gathering real feedback from real women for over a year before finally landing on a mechanism that worked perfectly: secure, beautiful, and on in a snap.

Already Creating Buzz on Social—and Behind the Scenes

claspe quietly launched DTC in January 2024—and immediately caught fire. Influencers like Hailee Wilkes, Maxey Greene, Melyssa Hanif, Caitlin Ramirez, and Jennie Suk began wearing and sharing claspe’s signature pieces. Even Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx and Sneex, was the first to receive a Claspe necklace—a full-circle moment for a founder inspired by her.

Elevated Materials, Minus the Markup

claspe is built for real life—but with luxury-level details. Each piece is crafted from 14k gold vermeil over sterling silver, a precious-metal combination that delivers long-lasting shine without the cost of solid gold. That means no green skin, no flaking, and no fast-fashion compromises. Because Alicia knows firsthand that women already pay more and earn less—and they deserve better.

Built for Women Who’ve Had Enough

claspe is designed with intention for:

  • Women with long or acrylic nails

  • Women with short nails (yes, including nail-biters)

  • Those with dexterity or mobility challenges

  • And anyone who’s over struggling with their jewelry

From morning meetings to dinner dates to diaper changes, claspe keeps up—because it was built by someone living that exact life.

Redefining What Jewelry Should Be

In an industry that’s long overlooked function, claspe bridges the gap between elegance and everyday wearability. It’s a solution that feels obvious in hindsight—but that only a woman could’ve seen so clearly. With thoughtful engineering, high-quality materials, and a lived-in understanding of what’s been missing, claspe is proof that small design changes can make a big impact.

claspe is always available DTC, but quantities are limited—and early demand proves it’s a brand editors, stylists, and women everywhere are watching closely.
